Valentine Concert Series

Feel the love at Balesin this month of hearts with performer Rachel Alejandro on February 18 and Broadway performers (and husband and wife tandem) Robert Sena and Isay Alvarez on February 25 at the Clubhouse Performance Theater.

We’ve had a fantastic fortnight, jam-packed with all sorts of happenings on the island! Here’s a rundown of the highlights for the past two weeks.

Chinese New Year

Everyone was thrilled on the island this past Chinese New Year weekend as we kicked it off with an awesome performance from the beautiful and very talented Tippy Dos Santos, and rang in the CNY Balesin-style with the main event for the weekend – an amazing show with the Concert King himself, Martin Nievera! It was a night to remember as Martin wowed the crowd, who sang with him his greatest hits like “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin” and “Be My Lady.” A surprise number performed by island CEO Mike Asperin capped off the special evening.

Bryan Scott

NBA legend and former Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott visited the island last week. As a player, Scott won three NBA championships with the Lakers in the 1980s and began his NBA coaching career in 1998. He was invited by Globe Telecom for an appearance and speaking engagement at their summit event on the island.

Dream Wedding

Also last week, lovebirds Timothy and Christine Yapkianwee had their dream Balesin wedding. A solemn ceremony of their union was held at the Balesin Chapel, and was followed by an intimate reception at the Balesin Royal Villa. It was a joyous occasion and a night to remember for the families and close friends of the couple.

The month of February started off with a romantic wedding proposal at the Balesin Spa. Carl Sonza, guest of members John and Ria Hoyt, proposed marriage to the love of his life, Mayen Mercado, after a romantic stroll on Balesin beach. The couple was serenaded by the Balesin Trio right after she said “Yes!”
